Defrag

I'm trying to defragment my laptop's hard drive but it remains heavily fragmented after the defrag utility has run.

i've tried using a few third party apps to defrag the drive but its still heavily fragmented with 16866 excess fragments.

Any ideas? or suggestions for defrag apps I could try (freeware)? i've tried disk keeper lite, auslogic defrag, sysinternals contig utility..

i have 24% free space on the drive which ought to be enough not to hinder the defragmentation process?
