XP is actually the most prone Windows OS to hackers, I suggest getting Zone Alarm (firewall) from http://www.zone-labs.com - it's got a free version

I just got back on the internet using my backup intallation of XP

also if you keep getting the same popup ads you might have spyware on your computer, try a program like Ad Aware 6 to see what you have

Thanks for the help.... Now my system is far better than b4. Now everytime i start the comp it surface scans the system and im cant get a discwizad or bad sector remover for my model HDD samsung sv1021d (10gb). DM available on the net for samsung does not have an option to do this......so now wat can i do?
