I recently transplanted a partioned HD from an old computer. It's a 60GB total, but it's been partitioned to roughly 58 GB, and 1.99GB. How can I get rid of the partition? I know I can format it with my WinXP CD, but I don't want to waste 3 gigs with an OS on a harddrive I will never boot with. Any ideas??

Assuming you are on either w2k or xp in the Master hard drive what you do is right click " my Computer" select manage / disk management / right click to delete. You can format through this utility as well.

Relax and be glad you can use it.
XP users tell me what replaced fdisk ?
 Old? whow how old ?
Unplug it and sell it,i guess.

okay batman you should take your meds. that made no sense at all. Total Immortal i think you may be asking your question in the wrong way. sounds to me like you want to combine both partitions into 1. you need to use partition magic to do this. i would backup all data before attempting a partition merge. sometimes PM will corrupt data.

why dont u debug the hdd..
will remove the partion and also the ntfs or fat32 partition...

Alright T.I., Here's watcha do----If you want a program to use,
go to www.download.com. Once there, search for a program
called "Del-part" it's an executable partition deleter. Just open
the downloade file, and follow instuctions to make floppy, then
just boot from floppy, and follow on-screen instuctions.

Now, if u want to do it the old fashioned way,:
1)Go into fdisk
2)Delete partions (both of them, you'll have to do it twice).
3)Reboot (don't create any , just reboot!)
4)Now, go back into fdisk, you should be able to create a new,
single partition.

That's all there is to it dude!

I have done this before, and it does work!
