Well i have a conundrum with a laptop.
trying to get data off a windows xp home partition - specifically, a password-protected user account.
registry is irrepairable imo, too corrupt. have tried on that for a few hours. Need to get the data off of that user account, but of course when we try to copy the files (via slaving) we get an access denied error. only way i know of to change permission/ownership is through safe boot, or the admin account - both inaccessible. Currently have the machine booted to knoppix, tried to change permissions to no avail. knoppix won't burn a data disc, when i add the folder K3B just closes down
ideas? how have you retrieved this data before?
