Question Data Execution Prevention closed Windows Explorer

As I was shutting down my PC, a window popped up saying that Data Execution Prevention had closed down Windows Explorer, and went on to explain that DEP closes programs when they are a security risk. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused it?
