Custom.dic problem

I have a problem with the custom spell checker with Word. I have a Windows XP PC using Word 2002, I copied the custom.dic file from 'path:\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof' and copied it tp a shared drive. On the other PC it is Windows 98 SE and running Word 97. I copied that file into 'program file\ms office\10' some where along that line (did a search and replaced witrh the old custom.dic. I then went into tools->options and check it was using the custom.dic file.

I checked on the 98 PC, but Words still come up as missed spelt. Checked the words against each other and both were Identical. I dont know why it ist finding the words. Is it an issue between the different versions of software?

I dont believe that the 97 version can use files from 2002. Since it is newer program and all the programming changed and all that. I know if you use a 2002 dco and try to open it in 97 it wont work. It is probably the same thing with the dictionary.
