I have been trying to create a windows cd from my Win XP Pro CD, but I would like to add programs such as AIM and additional drivers and such to be installed with windows from the CD. I would also like to make certain settings in windows to be default on installation as well as add updates as they become available (I do know how to integrate SP2).

I am not certain but I think WinPE may help with this.

Any info shedding light on this matter would be helpful.

I know you can accomplish this as I know someone who made a batch file to automate installing windows and all his programs. As far as the updates goes you can use autopatcher available free from http://www.neowin.net/autopatcher/ and http://www.autopatcher.com/

You could also use disk imaging to tranfer partitions to another disk. This would be much faster. If tranferring winXP to another machine with different hardware you have to set this before cloning a partition http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=50009562&f=77909774&m=1400925745

What's the difference between Autopatcher and Automatic update? Does Autopatcher change the contents of an xp installation CD?
