I bought my dell inspiron 5100 laptop almost a year ago. Its specs are:
Intel P4 2.4 Ghz
512 MB Ram
30GB Harddisk
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
Creative Audigy 2 NX
Windows XP Home Edition
For the last couple of months, it started to work slower. I use spybod S&D and ad-aware, anti-virus software. I have my drivers and windows updated. I do defrag and disk clean up regularly. I tried system configuration utility(msconfig) I talked with dell about this. They replaced my harddrive but it is slow after I use it for awhile. sometimes CPU usage goes up to 100%. The programs that use up the cpu are ICQ, Norton antivirus, and IE. I don't understand why suddenly the CPU usage increases. Also the temperature of computer increases alot after awhile. It also shuts down sometimes because of overheating( It happened twice when I was watching movies).
Does anyone have any ideas to keep temperature and CPU usage lower?
