I don't know if this the right area of the forum to post this but I figured I would try. I have a buddy at work that is having troubles with his computer and wants me to try and fix it. The only problem is he lives 79 miles from me and I really don't have time to go down there right now. Is there a way with windows XP to remotely connect to his computer to troubleshoot it from my house? Or maybe something that I can download or buy? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Try Remote Desktop Connection (it comes with Windows) or 3rd Party apps include:

VNC
PC Anywhere

Like Bugg said, Remote Desktop will work, or a thirdparty app such as VNC are gonna be your best bets.

Yes Remote Desktop uses IP. He has to enable it on his end and check the box to allow incoming remotes. If either of you is behind a router you will need to use a VPN first or go with PC Anywhere or something.
