\\ComputerName/c$ Not Working - Two Questions.

I was right. But at the same time, I wasn't right.

I'm at work now and just gave it a shot. I just remoted in using \\ComputerName/c$

HOWEVER:

It auto-corrected it in the explorer bar at the top to \\ComputerName\c$

And I know connecting to servers is always using \\whatever\lol\sup\, but I was first taught when using the c$ thing it was /, so my habit had just kinda formed rock solid in that department and since it always worked, I never questioned it.

That's very strange...

I put in:

\\00-905-00/c$

And it shows up... but it shows up in the explorer task bar as:

\\00-905-00\c$

But moral of the story is, for this to work what do I need? Simple file sharing enabled? I wonder how I missed it when I had it on other images. *shrug*

EDIT - I'm doing this from XP to XP btw, so I wonder if something is different in Vista/7 that caused you to error out, Osiris.

SFS is automaticlaly enabled on XP, Vista, 2003, and 2008, but once joined to a domain its disabled, enabling greater security to access shares with permissions. I doubt that you can even enable it once on a domain if you wanted too, and you really shouldn't anyways.
