Default computer running slow?

hey i installed a program called tuneup utilities 2004 the other day and since then i my computer has been running slow. i dont think it is the tuneup program because the program is made to speed up the computer now to slow it down. now i keep getting an error that says low on virtual memory and then my computer locks up for a few minutes. if any one can give me some advice on how to speed up my computer that would be great

thanx for any advice.

i would start with msconfig at the run command and get rid some startup programs.

Well, try some simple troubleshooting.
Task manage the utility, if it's still slow, start removing more processes.

I have TuneUp Utilities 2004, and it didn't affect my speed. Check your start up stuff.
