I have a laptop plugged into an external monitor that I never shut off. At night I leave it around midnight and the next time I touch it is around 6 PM, at which point I'd expect it to be off. I cant be 100% sure its not, since I usually swipe move the mouse before I turn the monitor on (so it could be that turns it on) but since there's no real time delay between my moving the mouse and turning the monitor on, and given that certain lights are on on the computer, I think it never turns off / sleeps in the first place. How do I fix this? I've looked at my settings in the power options of control panel they seem fine. My computer's plugged into power and the settings for that are dim display in 5 mins, turn off display in 10, put computer to sleep in 30.
Btw I'm using Win 7.
