Default Computer Crash NEED HELP!!

hey my computer crashed just now and when i try to restart it it says that i am missing the C:/windows/system32/config/system folder now i tried to reinstall windows by booting of the cd rom but then it says for me to format it and i dont want to have to format it. any ideas on how to reinstall windows without formating or use the recovery console by booting of the cd rom.

any help would be great

no i went to scan something and it just gave me a black screen and said you ar missing the c:/windows/system32/config/system folder

Hey the same thing happened to me, without the crashing part, but the windows thing, try this, go on google and type anti-virus, virus, kill, or violence and click on one random thing, if it auto closes the window then you have the same prb as me

you can do a repair on windows. Boot off the CD, then choose the reapir option, not the one where it asks to do a new install.

Yup run repair from the cd to get your folder back.
