Compaq Presario V5000 sound not working

hi , my Compaq presario V5000 has no sound at all.. i have updated drivers and even formatted then updated drivers but nothing seems to be working.. i contacted HP and they didnt know what it was... so they are coming for my laptop in 2 days.. what do you think it might be
