ah in command.com one can use long names, so i guess command.com uses 32 bit stuff whereas cmd uses 16 bit and the old 8.3 file format


i geuss cmd is just used tun 16 bit proecsses, what are 16 bit processes one would like to run nowadays?

Other way around

Command is for 16bit apps and lagacy support for old style windows script.

Command was what was used in the old version of Windows. 95,98,ME all used Command to get to the DOS Prompt. That was disabled in XP as far as i remember.

In Vista they have totally disabled the command script and only have the cmd option. that gives you the basic functions of M$ DOS.
