command line problem

so i am trying to change the name of a picture in my windows 7 system through the command line. I dont want to use the gui. I enter REN , space, then the name of the file (IMAG0076.jpg), space, then CONTAINER.jpg. But it wont do it. It says, "system file not found", but I knbow that picture exists. Why won't it rename the picture?

are you in the location where the file is located?

hmm says system file not found.

i would check the path variable; run command: echo %path%

check to see if c:\windows and c:\windows\system32

change windows folder names above if needed

change the path variable thru system properties

ok lexluther, i see what you were saying. I have to be in the pictures directory in order to change pictures. thanks
