Color Display Will Not Stay

[Stay Cool]

When I attempt to change my color display to 256 Colors, it will not stay.
It reverts back to a prior setting.
In addition to the color display problem, my screen is all white at times.
I ramdomly depress keys on the keyboard, and when the color does appear, it is very faint.
Any help would be appreciated. TIA

DO you have the right drivers for your video card what verison of windows do you have

what kind of vid card. sounds like the old Vanta TNT cards. Need to update the corrupted driver (but fully remove the old driver first).

how do I uninstall the video driver?
