Ive just recently installed windows 7 for the 8th time, and chkdsk it insists on running on boot up, but when it runs it corrupts files and i have to run startup repair to fix them, is there a tool or something to fix these problems its trying to fix but without corrupting the files.

My hard drive is pretty new, i got it last week, its a Samsung 1TB hard drive. I hope its not the hard drive, if it is ill be annoyed.

Note: when i skip the chkdsk, windows boots up fine. its very strange.

The drive is bad. Check Disk only verifies that there is no bad sectors on the drive. Since you keep getting file corruption, that means that chkdsk is finding bad sectors and that those files are located on those sectors.

If you just installed, chkdsk shouldnt be running at startup. It is not a normal process. Which means that Windows is detecting a problem with the drive and says that chkdsk needs to be run. At shut down it sets it to boot at the next startup.

Sorry but you got a bum drive.
