Default Chkdisc

Yes, i have recently came upon a problem. When i try to run chkdisc, i get the following error on the chkdisc page."Cannot open volume for direct access". And also it is locked into a loop, the chkdisc page comes up everytime i reboot. Any suggestions? Thank you

If you ignore the chkdsk error and continue, does your PC boot up?

I booted up in safe mode, and it went ahead and ran the disc check ok,
However, after i booted back up normally, nortons scan disc said there were still problems on the disc

Is it on just one particular partition? Or is your HDD just one single partition?

I googled around and found a post somewhere from a guy with the same problem and claims doing the following should solve it.
Maybe you could try it out

1 - Run MSCONFIG
2 - Check 'Diagnostic Start Up-load basic devices & services only' (on the general tab)
3 - Run your 3rd party software (Something like Norton scan disk)
4 - Reboot

After you get this sorted out, I'd defrag the hard drive to clean it up some.
