USA. AIM is alright. Trillian or Pidgin would be a better solution.

Trilllian and Pidgin are both multi-client programs. In other words, they incorporate several IM/chat clients into one program, allowing you to use all of them at one time through one interface. Both allow you to chat with people using the different clients, even at th same time. I have had conversations going on AIM, Yahoo, and MSN at the same time through Trillian before.
