Changing registry in DOS

Hi everyone,
I changed the registry code under the SOFTWARE section so that i could gain access to certain levels of a game i was playing (changed the default value to 8.) After that I could not log into windows. Anyone has any suggest on how to fix this problem?

What errors are you getting when you try to log into Windows? What is the exact key/string value that you changed?

I gave up on it...there is no way to try to change the registry without booting the comp. I decided to reinstall XP. First trial it gave me an error code: Hal.dll error. Then I tried reinstallation the second time around and it works. Now when I boot up, the comp. displays 3 different list of XP OS. How could I get rid of the other two and keep the one that works ?

I realized that the old files are still on C drive. All my saved games are unvailable because it is on the other log in name. Now i am really confused. Not sure which OS i'm using. One from C drive? or one from D drive ? How can i find out?
