Hi,

Is it possible to change the IRQ of my video card?

I own a toshiba satellite 2430 which is running xp pro. The video card is NVIDIA Geforce 4 420Go. I have the installed the latest driver for the device.

What happens is when I am watching a DVD or playing a game or something that is using the graphics card intensely, the system freezes up or crashes. I thought it may be a heating issue but after some investigating I saw that the video card is sharing IRQ 10 with about 8 other devices, some of which being the NIC, the sound card, and the usb controller. I figure this may be causing some of the issues.

Is there any way anyone know of changing the IRQ so that the video card is on its own and not sharing because I have 2 free IRQ's?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Cail

You can always pull the PCI Bus and let windows sort it out. Windows will redetect all the hardware again and hopefully straighten itself out. Keep the os cd handy, and hope you know your way around system drivers, 'cause you'll probably have to path out a few.
