Changing default downloader

I'm having some trouble here with my default download manager (i think).
I use bit comet to download certain things from the web. But when I downlaod a new app it want's to use bit comet.
How can I change it so it only uses bit comet for certain things??
If possible.

i know with dap, i would right click the icon in the system tray then click disable downloads by dap.

when i wanted to download something with dap, i would click and drag the url to the dap screen

maybe bit comet has similar features.
