CD or DVD's not playing

I have a sony computer with windows xp professional. I use to slide a CD in and it would automaticly play, same with a DVD but it has stopped, can someone tell me how to get it to go back to normal....thanks

You need to turn back on Auto-Run

Open Windows Explorer by pressing the Windows + "e" key. Or you can double click My Computer to see your CD/DVD drive

Right-click the desired CD-ROM and select Properties from the menu.

Select the AutoPlay tab.

Select each item from the pulldown list and for the Action to perform, select "Take no action" to disable autorun, or pick the apporpriate action to take if enabling autorun.

Select OK.
