Catalyst 4.8 released! (Doom 3 improvements)

ATI released version 4.8 of their Catalyst drivers, in which there should be a big Doom3 performance improvement. Most people (at www.clanbase.com) report that the new version gives a better result than the 4.9 beta version, which was released a while ago.

Older OpenGL games such as Quake III Arena and Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory show small improvement (1-2%) at low resolutions. Call of Duty framerates are up approximately 4%. Doom3 improves considerably more (as much as 12% on some product configurations) as a result of the same software efficiency improvements.
