Thanks for the input so far guys! This was not meant to be anything illegal nor is anything I am doing illegal. I have a family reunion coming up and my Uncle gave me MANY DVD's he created from VHS family footage he converted to his machine onto DVD's.

I only need about a few seconds from a few DVD's to make my *****in intro..the others I will have to RIP fully and convert into mpegs as I have large chunks to edit.

I dont mind paying for third party software if someone knows of one that will work it will save me LOTS of time. I had tried this one where it says capture anything in live time, but when I selected the dvd movie that was playing it only showed black..I'm thinking its perhaps the encryption that is not allowing it to be captured?

but wont that make some torrents on the net legal..i mean if someone owns a movie...does that give im the right to share it with every one..not that i am taking the side of the RIAA or any other corperate ..lol
