Question can't save as a gif

running window xp home when I try to save a gif image by right click and save as the only option that is avialable is bitmap, does anyone have a clue on how to fix this . Same thing with e-mail right click on can save as bitmap but if I select the files in my email by using the file option they will be saved as gif's . About to drive me batty, thank you in advanced for any help

I'm sure your using XP's dafault Paiting program which only saves as bitmap format.

I've used this to change formats:
Infraview

Get it at:

JPG's tend to have better quality and the great compression.
Gif's are smaller but quality is not as good.

thank you for that . I think I have found the problem had to delete my temporary internet files and it seemed to solve the problem I can now save the images as jpeg gif or bitmaps thank you for the link Infraview is a great program as well as ACDSEE
