Default Cant reinstall windows.

Ive been having problems reinstalling windows. I start the reinstall doing the upgrade so i dont lose data on my computer, but when it restarts the computer to do so it then says corrupted dll. (it says a specific one). recently my mobo fried i just ordered at a8n and new 7900 gt oc and a athlong 64 3700. will i be able to run my computer with the old version of windows i had on my comp. at least to get some of my important data off of it or will i have to reformat the drive before im even able to boot up my harddrive.

M2N-SLI Deluxe
eVGA 7900 gt superoverclocked
WinFast TV Tuner
2 gb of Crucial DDR2 800
120 gb sata2 and 250 sata2
500 watt psu
Windows XP Home

its a possibility, most of the time, it will error out because of the diff versions of drivers conflicting etc etc..give it a try, it has worked on occassion for me but its not happened more than it has.....
