Can't make a new partition

Hi
I have a problem where I cannot create a new partition on my Vista drive. In disk management everything is blanked out. I tried using Acronis Disk Director and it gives an error saying it cannot split the volume. I used GParted LiveCD and it did not allow me to resize the volume either. I followed these steps: :: the How-To Geek
but it still does not work.

What can I do to create a new partition on this drive.

Defragment your drive. I would recommend Ausolgics Disk Defrag
