My daughter can't log onto her desktop. She gets this error...

Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network, or that your network is functioning correctly. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

What do I do?

TIA

Profile may be corrupted

Can you rename her old account to username.old and then have her log back in as she normally would?

I would just create a new account for her, because it sounds like it is corrupt. Then transfer all of her data from her documents and settings folder (if you are using xp, users if you are vista or 7.) All of the data should be there.

You could troubleshoot it, but it would take way longer than if you were just to create her a new account.

Agreed with the above. Profiles can be picky as ever. I'd create a new username, then explore to her documents on her old username (pictures, music or whatever else) and copy that over to her new username.

Then that's definitely the issue. I've had viruses before that disables access to my computer, control panel, etc.

That is also probably why the account is corrupt in the first place.
