Can't Install CPU Driver Update

I have a new CPU update. In order to install it, I receive a message that says that I have to uninstall the existing Athlon 64 Processor Driver. When I click on "Remove," I receive a message that says "Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

When trying to install the new CPU driver, I disconnected from the internet, turned off Windows Firewall, Avast, and every other program that's running.

Is there a solution to this?

try in safe mode. nothing is running.

you might also need to install it while windows is not running.

I never knew there where software drivers for the CPU.....
