Default cant hear the sound on dvd's

Hello

When i try to play DVD's on my pc using real player i can barely hear the sound track but when i play mp3's using real player, i can hear them.

why can i not get the sound when playing DVD's but can get sound when playing mp3's `

install power DVD or something similiar

set the audio to 2.0

dvd has 2 audio settings. 5.1 or 2.0 (for regular speakers). whenever you can barely hear the sound of the dvd through your speaker, it mean that 5.1 is going through 2 regular speakers, so most of the info is missing

thanks for the replies, it makes sense now

why would not the 5.1 information be going to the speakers?

how do i set the audio to 2?

i have got windows media player 10,
cant find edit --> preferences on it
