Hey all,

Here's the short of what is going on:

Upgraded to Win10 on a Toshiba Satellite C855 laptop --
Display will not dim/brighten now--
Fn Keys all work except for the dim/bright keys-- (this used to work fine)

The auto dim function in the Win10 settings does not work if I put it to ON (currently it is set to OFF). Either way (ON or OFF) the screen doesn't dim/brighten.

I have gone to the Toshiba website and did the following:
Flashed BIOS
Downloaded Function Key updates

Nothing seems to work. My stepmother cannot stand how bright the screen is currently.

I cannot figure out anyway to get this screen dimmed down.

HELP PLEASE

my wifes laptop is doing same after update from windows 8.1
the screen stays on all the time now when laptop is not active

it probably means the power settings were reset.( haven't checked them yet )

You can manually dim it through Power Settings on the slider-bar.

For the Fn key updates...did you get all the required software from Toshiba's site?

You can just download f.lux

That would only help dim it, not brighten. I suppose if it happens to be stuck on full brightness this would technically (although not desirably) work as a solution.

If the Fn keys won't work at all in Win10 for adjusting brightness, could also write up an AutoHotKey script that would do it as well.

NirCMD also has the ability to set brightness levels, though they would have to be done through desktop shortcuts (don't think you can bind those to keyboard commands, unless you combine it with AHK).
