Can't delete partition

I dug up an old laptop, that I want to use, and I found that it has a good amount of usable space (6GB). So I tried reformatting it, but I can't delete my only and primary partition. Any ideas?

What are you using to format it? If this is within Windows, you can't.

What are you trying to format? You can not format the C:/ drive while in XP.
