Default cant delet favs from ie

friend has a problem with his internet explorer. He has 4 accounts on xp machine, for all his family. When he opens internet explorer it has in the favourites folder several links to xxx sites. These are in everyones favourites folders and he cant delete them. When he does delete them, after a reboot they reappear. He also has some spyware which spybot S&d will not delete. Any ideas ??

sounds like a spyware infection. create a hijackthis log and surf over to the virus forum where you'll find a hijackthis log analyze subforum. post your log there and they'll help ya.

you can find hijack this in the downloads page. the link is in the top banner.

If you have windows XP, then do this.
Click Start.
Click Run.
A window will open, then look above, and click STARTUP.
This will show you all the programs that start when your computer is turned on.

Now listin, if you uncheck anything, then it is disabled. So call your computer company, and ask what should be on that list. He will tell what not to uncheck. Then uncheck the left overs.

Listin, if your spyware has a motherboard (Installed Software Thats Inhabitant ). This means when you uncheck it, its probably going to load anyways. So go to Add/Remove programs, while on the phone with your computer company. Read them to him, and he will tell you whats infecting, and whats not.

Then go back to the first step, and do over. This will help alot.
Finished With TF.
