Default cant burn a cd

does any one know why i cant burn CDs?

with nero it says communication error. with windows it says could not burn try again later. any ideas?

it could be a few things. give us a system profile. also try different media. that's the no.1 cause of error

if you have an optowrite that could be the problem

now when i try to use nero it asks what drive to use to burn the file. problem is that the drive i want to use has a nice little X next to it.

what is your system specs esp. your cd burner

processor: amdathlon xp 2500+ mmx, 3dnow ~1.8ghz
video: nvidia geforce2 64mb

How would i find out my cd drives?

right click my computer, properties, hardware, device manager
now click on your cd/dvd drives
