Cant Activate windows even

I cant for the love of god seem to activate windows, im pretty sure im looking at the product key on the side of my comp but no it says product key is unauthorized, i tried phoning the number they gave me but its no help since i cant get connected to it

is it a bootleg copy of XP or did you purchase a disk?

no its a real copy copy, i have the cd when i built my computer, its just that i blew my hd in an old one and this one,so wouldnt a phone to microsoft solve this

Yes, when you phone Microsoft terchnical support and explain what happened, they'll simply ask for your product key off of the CD and I believe they'll reissue you a new one. I'm not sure if you've already been able to install the software and you just cannot activate it or what not, but Microsoft will be able to help you.

have you tried activating over the internet?

download rockxp and see if it gives you a different key, if so, use that one
