Cannot standby or hibernate after xp prof install

Recently i installed XP professional on my HP dv1040us Laptop. Now i no longer have the ability to put my computer on standby or hibernate. When i go to the power options, there is not even a tab for hibernate anymore. What can i do?
Please help me.

Are you sure that the Laptop supports hibernation?
The hibernate should be shown, only reason it wont be there is if it isnt supported.

I got it, the reason it wasnt shoing up was because the graphics drivers were not installed
