Question Cannot see one of the parttions on my harddrive

Hi everyone!

I recently built a new computer. I installed a brand new 640 GB WD Black Cavier. I partitioned the first portion as 140 gigs for my Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS[listed as Drive C]. Then I partitioned another part for 100 GB for program files[listed as drive D].

Finally I made a partition for 200 GB [I cannot find a letter drive for his one] and a final partion of 100GB[Listed as Drive F].

I am kind of confused. One of the partitions is not showing up when I click my computer.

What I wanted was this:

OS [C Drive] 140 GB
Programs [D Drive] 100 GB
Everything Else/Storage [400 GB]

Can someone here help me to figure this out?

Here is my new build:

Thermaltake M9 case
Q9550 Processor
Corsair XMS DDR2 800 8 GB
Thermaltake 600 W PSU
Windows Ultimate 64-bit
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Western Digital 640 GB 32 Cache
Sea Gate 1.5 TB SATA HD
Lian-Li Bezel Thermometer Gauge
ZeroTherm Zen FZ1205
Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS

Thank you.

Soar

Do you see any nonactive partitions when you look at the drive in disc management? Perhaps you did not activate and format that particular partition.

To elaborate on Hef's post: Disk management can be gotten to by: Rightclicking My Computer > Manage... > Disk Management on the left-side pane.

Hef,

I do not see any non active partitions in disc management.

How can I take a screen shot to show you what I see?

Soar

When I right click on the partition that does not show up in My Computer it gives me the option of marking it as active, but I also receive this message frightening message: Only mark this partition if it has an operating system. Making this drive active can cause problems on your computer and not allow it to boot.

Press the Prnt-Scrn key on your keyboard to take a screenshot, save it in Paint or another photo-editing software and upload it to a photo hosting site (Tinypic is one of my fav's).

Can also do an Alt+PrntScrn and it will only take a screenshot of the active window instead of your entire screen.

Ok, Thanks!

Here is the screen shot:

Can someone please help me to recover/use the 205 GB portion?

Thanks,

Soar

I think I posted the wrong url for the screen shot. Sorry.

I think this is the correct one:

Right click on that drive and Add a drive letter to it. Right now there is no drive letter assigned to it which is why it is not showing up.

Mak,

God you sure make things easy! Thanks.

One more question if you do not mind:

I have Vista Ultimate 64-bit on the C Drive. I would like to install Windows 7 as well. Which drive do you suggest?

Thanks Mak for helping me again!

You can go with the New Volume 2 partition or partition the unallocated drive and install it there. Since that disk is not being used for anything at this time.
