Default cannot delete partition!

i am trying to install a fresh copy of win xp on my pc by deleting everything on my computer, however when i come to delete the partition (c: drive) it says it can't because win xp setup files to install win xp are on this partition!
please could someone tell me why they think it won't let me, even though it has let me in the past with the same win xp disc.

follow the following process:
1. set CDROm as 1st boot device
-put the XP cd in the Cdrom
-keep hitting any key
-it would start loading some files
-It would ask u to either press enter to setup XP
or press R to run recovery console
Press R
-choose the partition 1
hit enter
-type the comand -: diskpart
follow the instaruction on the screen
-that would do it !
