My computor has been working ok, but I like to periodically start over by reformatting and reinstalling windows.
In the past, I booted from the reinstallation cd, the cd booted, and then everything worked as it should.
The only difference is that I am now runnng Mcafe instead of Norton security.
Anyway, I switched the boot order so that CD/DVD is first, but it just makes CD noise for about 30 seconds before windows starts.
Also, when I put the windows reinstallation cd in while windows is running, I cannot get windows to acknowledge the contents of the disk. It does not run and I cannot view the files on the disk with windows explorer. When I put this same disk into my other computors, it pops up with a windows reinstallation program, so the problem is with my computor rather than the disk.
I do not understand why I cannot get this to work. Other CDs and DVDs still run in windows like normal. I have tried uninstalling mccafe and reinstalling cd/dvd driver, but neither has helped.
Any suggestions?
