Can u do a install from an image file on a cd?

I want to format my pc and was wondering that if i burned an image file to a separate cd, is it possible to install with it? I dont want my original windows disk getting damaged like the last one was so would be a good thing to know if i can use an image file.

Technically, an ISO is a disk image, so yes you can. You have to burn the ISO file to the CD. I don't know how you would be able to make the Windows CD an ISO, but if you figure out a way, awesome.

Well i use a program called alcohol 120 and i did try and make an image of the damaged cd but it had that many errors on it that it was impossible to do that. I wont have that problem with the new cd. not sure it will make it an iso file though
