Laptop with Windows XP Pro. sp3 installed.

The OS is very busy for about 20 minutes after booting into desktop. The LED keyboard indicators show very busy. Nothing can be operated in the period of time.

What seems to be the problem?
How to solve it, please?

Thanks.
Vicky

You might want to check to see if anything malicious is running on your pc, you can use Malwarebytes to scan you pc. If that comes up clean we can see what's in the start up list to see if anything there could be causing the slow start up
You can use the free version
Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

Update and run the full scan, then follow the prompts to clean up anything it might find

.

Ya - run a malware scan.

Also go to msconfig and go to the startup folder. From there uncheck anything you DON'T want starting up with the PC.

What are your system specs and what do you have installed? I see this a lot but it's usually with older hardware trying to run newer software.

As the above two answers mentioned, run a malware scan. And also check your hardware specs. It's possible that your laptop doesn't have enough power to run the OS properly.
