Burning Large Files to Multiple CDs

I need to transfer a 1.08GB file to another computer. Networking the two computers is not an option. I'd like to simply fit them on to two separate CDs. Unfortunately, I don't know whether that'll work. Is it an automated process? Once I start the download and the first CD ejects because it's full, will I be prompted to enter another blank CD to finish burning the file?

A friend of mine says I might need to unzip the file on the computer that downloaded it from and then manually split them up on to two separate CDs. Then I'd have to manually put them back together once transfered to the new CD. I don't know if that'll work either. Also, it sounds like a lot of work.

Does anyone know of any other possibilities? How can I transfer the file? Is there a small 400-500KB program that'll allow me to burn large files automatically to multiple CDs?

Please reply quickly... thanks!
