I had a power outage at home and now my computer won't boot back up. Gets to the area where it gives me an option to start in normal or safe mode and others but when I click on them it does nothing. Can someone help Please

user your XP cd and boot to recovery console. Run
Code:
Chkdsk C: /f /r /x

reboot after and see if it works.

i am having the same problem...
If i can find my cd ill try to run the repair console.

Im currently having to use vista rtm instead.
This sucks... Hopefully i can find my original cd :(

Just wondering, you do have your computer plugged into a surge protector?

Dont forget, there is a difference between a $5 surge strip and a $40 surge protector ;)

so true.

try using spinrite 6.0 to fix that hdd

ok tried to get to the restore part and it did not worked. The biggest problem is everytime I try to boot it restarts without ever booting up. I did try booting with Windows disk and it wanted to repair wich would have deleted all my files. Is this the only way?

a repair shouldnt delete your files.

If you managed to get the windows cd to boot then you should be able to get from there into the recovery console.
