I am trying to install windows 2000. I currently have windows xp. I am trying to boot to the windows 2000 cd. i have set it up to seach cdrom for boot device. i turned computer off and rebooted it searched the cdrom , but did not read the cd, and booted to windows xp. I have tried to reboot several times with same effect. I then tried my xp cd. it booted immeaditaly to my windows xp cd. Is there something i am doing wrong with the windows 2000 cd. Do i need a startup disk?

HELP

it's depending what you are trying to do, r u truing to install win 2000 instead of xp?

You can make startup floppies (need 4 floppies) by going to the folder bootdisk and running makeboot.exe dos program.

I had the same prob with the computer not booting directly from the cd even when i directed it to.
