Hello all,
I am in need of a bit of assistance. My company uses Dell wyse boxes/thin clients to access RDS servers. Some of us have regular PC machine workstations; but those who are on wyse boxes are using the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard edition.
I am trying to re-image a 3030 wyse box(1) by using a reference 3030 wyse box(2) that is in good condition.
I went into bios by holding down the DEL key which then prompted me to use a password. Once I got into bios, I changed settings to enable USB and I changed the priority of booting to USB as number 1. The USB I am trying to boot has a wyse firmware tool that allows me to capture an image from the current referenced working wyse box 2, and then I'll be able to re-image wyse box 1.
However, when I am trying to boot from USB by holding down P(button that takes you to boot menu), it will refresh the page and take me back to the menu where I can choose what to boot from- a constant cycle. I have changed the port location of where I input the USB FD multiple times, but I am still unable to get a proper boot. It looks like to me that bios may be bypassing the 'Boot from USB' priority and forces Windows to take me to the login screen for our servers.
I am not sure how to get past this.. I've gone to other forums including Dell and Microsoft for help; but the response times are very long, and no one seems to know how to get the USB to boot.
If anyone has any advice at all, that would be wonderful!
Thanks again,
M
*UPDATE* I was able to get the USB to boot by changing the boot mode to both in Bios.
However, when it accepts the USB, I get an error from the Dell Wyse USB Imaging Tool
"USB key is not configured for proper Architecture. (error code: 313)." I've looked this up and am continuing to research, but I haven't found anything yet.
If anyone has any valuable advice, I would love to hear it!
Thanks again,
M
