I'm running XP SP3 Pro. I had to run Combofix recently, and ever since after I used it, whenever I turn on my computer, I get a black screen saying "normal start up" or "recovery console" for about 4-5 seconds, then it continues to boot normally. Any idea how to disable this?

Start>run>msconfig

Check under the boot tab. Take a screen shot and upload it. I dont remember exactly what that image looks like. It has been 4 years since i used XP.

First try the option to Check all boot paths. If that doesnt do it then select the option for the C:CMDCONS boot option and delete it. That is the Recovery Console. That is what is causing this boot screen to come up.

Okay well this comes up when I click "check all boot paths"

That would also resolve the second option as well?

that"s what is pointing to the recovery console. If you say yes to that it should go back to normal.
