Hi,
I recently unsuccessfully tried to upgrade to Windows XP Professional sp2. I was previously running win xp with sp2 (older build).
Since fresh install is not an option for me, I did the following
1) boot with xp cd
2)chose repair install
This brought a blue screen that said " Please wait while setup copies files to the windows installation folder". Then it said "Saving Configuration" and it rebooted automatically.
Now all i have is a Black screen with a mouse pointer. The pointer moves so i know it hasn't hung.
I tried safe mode but all it does is bring up this screen with "safe mode" written on top.
I have already tried chkdsk -r from recovery console.
Format is not an option for me.
Any help will be appreciated.
