I just bought an

ASUS k8t800
amd 64 3000+
512 mb ddr

Anyways, When I load the computer up I can go into a BIOS menu. In the manual though it said to go to the website to download the newest BIOS. Well I went onto the ASUS site on another computer and dled a newer BIOS onto a floppy. When I boot up with the floppy in, I get an error something on the lines of "NTDLR is missing". When I push a key, it just keeps saying the same thing. What is this exactly?

Hehe....I should point you to the WinNT 2k boot sequence quiz! ;)

The BIOS flash that you are placing on the floppy is not bootable in itself....you need to place it on a bootable floppy, or just use a Windows 98 boot disk and then when you are at a DOS prompt swap floppies with the one with the flash on it and then load the file that you downloaded.

I'm sure the instructions on the ASUS site instruct in the same fashion....

Mike, knowledge is a fine thing and I thank you for sharing yours with us and Zipp...

Users of lesser PC knowledge to ours doesn't necessarily mean stupidity so go a little easier on them, eh? We'll get more info out of them re their problem if they're not made to feel like idiots.

A little PC side manner gets PC's fixed in this forum.

Isn't that what we're here for?

I'm not having a go at you. Making suggestions is a better description.

Cheers! :)
